BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Tuesday morning, the Raleigh County Commission approved a three percent pay increase for all county employees.
According to County Administrator Jay Quesenberry, the county commission, sheriff’s office, assessor’s office, county clerk, circuit clerk and prosecuting attorney’s office will all be affected by the increase.
Raleigh County Commission President Dave Tolliver revealed that it has been more than three years since the commission was able to give county employees a raise but said it is important to provide pay increases when possible.
“We felt that we had a little money to carry over from the last fiscal year, and we thought we should share it with the employees because they do such a good job for Raleigh County,” he said.
The increase will cost the county $286,000, according to Tolliver. The raises will go into effect on August 15, 2021.
