BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh County Parks and Recreation, via Lake Stephens will be offering a 6-session program on the beach designed to teach the basics of Yoga and Tai Chi, blended together into an art form called “Yo-Chi”.
The program will feature six 90 min sessions, throughout August and September of 2021. The program is open to children and adults. Participants in the martial art fusion class will learn various techniques including “meditation in motion” as well as “improved physical stability” and “kinesthetic awareness”. The student will also experience a low impact and slow-motion exercise that is both relaxing as well as improves mental and bodily health. The class will teach many other things but on basic levels.
This class will be taught by a Reiki Master a “Silver Sneakers” certified instructor from the Evolve Mental Health and Wellness Studio located in Beaver, Raleigh County, West Virginia. The teacher is also a certified 200-hour Ashaya Yoga instructor as well as other certifications for mental and physical fitness.
Space is limited in the class so early sign-up is encouraged. Children must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian. This course is running at the same time as our swimming lessons program.
Classes will be held at 1400 Lake Stephens Road, Surveyor; on the Beach located in the recreation area. Cost will be $60 (+tax) per student for entire program. The dates of the classes are: August 7, August 14, August 21, August 28, September 4, September 11 (weather permitting, with the possibility of dates, added or shifted to compensate) All classes will be from 9:30 am until 11:00 am E.S.T.
All classes will be held on the beach located at the recreation area unless moved due to inclement weather.
