RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The students of Raleigh County will see their holiday break extended in the wake of the ongoing water situation affecting the region.
According to Raleigh County Schools Superintendent David Price, schools throughout the area will be closed on Tuesday, January 3 and Wednesday, January 4 “due to the water situation in Raleigh County.”
The two-day closure will compound Monday’s already existing closure due to the New Years holiday having fallen on a weekend.
In spite of early estimations for restoration of water service having been 3-4 days, some customers remain without water after more than a week.
In an effort to accommodate those without the essential utility, several water distribution and shower sites have been set up throughout the area, a recent listing of which can be found here.
