BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Tuesday’s session of the Raleigh County Commission saw Commissioner Greg Duckworth and Commission President Dave Tolliver navigating the meeting agenda as a duo in the absence of Commissioner Epling who could not be present.
The gathering saw discussion of topics including budget revisions, rezoning, and new hires for the county.
With regard to the latter, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department proposed the hiring of Stephen Frey as a deputy sheriff for the department. Fry, who previously worked as an employee for the department for nearly a decade, left his position less than a year ago in June.
Frey, the motion for whose hiring passed on Tuesday, will be a rehire and is slated to come onboard on the 22nd of this month pending civil service approval. The sheriff’s department confirmed that the available budget will allow for this change.
Additional changes implemented early on in Tuesday’s session included budget revisions which entailed the transfers of hundreds of thousands of dollars to various ends. Coverage of these budget changes can be seen here.
