WASHINGTON, DC (LOOTPRESS) – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) introduced an amendment to H.R. 1, The Lower Energy Costs Act, that will finish the Mountain Valley Pipeline. This amendment ensures the Mountain Valley Pipeline is completed and delivers natural gas from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia to North Carolina and South Carolina.
With the pipeline being 94% completed and being held up by bureaucratic red tape and unjustified legal challenges, the passage of Congresswoman Miller’s amendment will finish the pipeline and deliver natural gas in mere months, increasing domestic energy supply and decreasing energy costs for all Americans.
“The Mountain Valley Pipeline is crucial to American energy independence. Numerous natural gas permitting projects are being held up by a left wing, radical court that should have no jurisdiction over our natural gas,” said Congresswoman Miller. “My amendment helps complete many America First projects, like the Mountain Valley Pipeline, and implements a necessary check on the liberal court who wants to stop energy production. All gas from the Mountain Valley Pipeline will supply domestic energy markets, meaning lower energy prices across the country as supply will dramatically increase.”
Background:
- H.R. 1 will increase domestic energy production, reform the permitting process, reverse President Biden’s anti-energy agenda, streamline energy exports, and boost production and processing of domestic critical minerals.
- With inflation and American natural gas prices at record highs, the completion of the Mountain Valley Pipeline will bring hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue to West Virginia, without raising taxes and send strong signals to global energy markets that the United States is a stable energy producer.
- The pipeline would provide up to 2 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica shale formations to consumers in North Carolina and South Caroline within months of this amendment being signed into law.
- It would sustain about 5,800 jobs and $5.9 billion in economic activity in West Virginia and Virginia.
- Senator Joe Manchin and Senator Shelley Moore Capito have supported the completion of the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
