BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Homer Hickam, West Virginia native and author of New York Times Best Seller, “Rocket Boys”, will visit Tamarack on Monday, October 25, to perform “Homer, Elsie and Sonny.” The performance, which is being hosted by Theatre West Virginia, is a mini-musical based on “Rocket Boys, The Musical.”
Hickam will be joined by Rhayne Thomas, who will play his mother, Elsie, and Carl Anthony Tramon, who will play Sonny, a younger version of Hickam.
Scott Hill, General Manager for Theatre West Virginia, says there is no better way to spend $20.
“It’s going to be a great night, and by far one of the most exciting things put on by Theatre West Virginia,” he shared. “We are really excited about it, and, of course, Homer, like many West Virginians, is a natural storyteller. He will be talking about something he knows- him growing up!”
According to Hill, those who attend the performance will get insights into Hickam’s life that aren’t highlighted in the book or play versions. The event will also be interactive, meaning attendees are welcome to ask Hickam questions about his life, his work and more.
The musical will begin at 7 p.m. in Tamarack’s HC Smith Theatre. At 5 p.m., Hickam will be set up for a pre-show book signing of his newest work, “Don’t Blow Yourself Up: The Further True Adventures and Travails of the Rocket Boys of October Sky.”
Tickets are limited and can be purchased for $19.95. Call 304-256-6800 or visit www.theatrewestvirginia.org to reserve a seat.
