Rosemary Bower Thomas loving wife, mother, and grandmother, of Coal City, WV, died at the age of 86 on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
Rosemary was the second child of James Clyde Bower and Lela Jane Lilly Bower, born June 15, 1936, in Coal City, WV. Rosemary graduated from Stoco High School class of 1955.
Rosemary was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a dedicated homemaker, creative seamstress, creative floral designer, enjoyed reading a good book, caregiver for family. She was a member of the Coal City Community Church, taught Sunday School, a member of the church choir and member of the Ladies Circle.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, James Clyde Bower and Leila Jane Lilly Bower; brothers Von and Clyde Bower.
Rosemary is survived by husband of 67 years, Jack. Her son, Jackie Thomas and daughter- in-law Beverly Thomas, daughter Janie T. Slaughter and son-in-law Tom Slaughter. Granddaughters, Kelli Wilburn and husband Gerald and April Smith and husband George. Great grandsons, Ty Wilburn, Eli Wilson, and Lincoln Smith. Great granddaughters, Jada Wilburn and Leila Smith. Sisters, Barbara Helvey and brother-in-law Vernon and Nora Faye Keen and brother-in-law Eddie of Christiansburg, Va. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2022, at 2 PM at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bowers Hospice or to a charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
