Sara Jane (Susie) Wickline 83 of Lindside passed away peacefully on Sunday May 9, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.
Born in Lindside, WV on January 28, 1938 she would be the last surviving of the twelve children born to the late Clarence and Madge Broyles Ballard. She was also preceded in death by one great-grandchild Gracen Ratcliffe. Susie as her friends knew her was a member of the Lindside United Methodist Church for all 83 years of her life, she served as Sunday school teacher, Bible School instructor, treasurer, worked in the food pantry and at the church food stand for years at the West Virginia State Fair.
She served her community through the CEO’s for over 50 years she served for 12 years as the first female elected to the Monroe County Commission. She loved to garden, her flowers, baking bread for friends and benefit auctions and attending ballgames both at Peterstown and James Monroe. But most of all she loved her family including her husband of 65 years Robert E. (Bob) Wickline of the home, their four children Larry (Sally) Wickline of Daniels, WV; Leah (Dossie) Williams of Lindside; Lynn (Steve) Newberry of Peterstown; Keith (Pam) Wickline of Lindside. Those four children would give her the PRIDE of her life 10 grandchildren Larry (Kathleen) Wickline of Daniels, WV; Joe (Kristen) Wickline of Bridgeport, WV; Mark (Chasity) Williams and Jon (Ashley) Williams of Lindside, Nick (Amber) Newberry of Peterstown, Kelly (Danny) Ratcliffe of Pearisburg, VA; Lyndsay Wickline of Leon, WV; Morgan (Justin) Harvey of Morgantown, WV; Ryan Keith Wickline and Braylin Wickline both of Lindside. From the PRIDE of her life would come the JOY of her life 17 Great-Grandchildren. Two sister in laws Lou Ballard of Lindside and Pam Kantsios of Rich Creek, VA; many nieces and nephews, neighbors and a church family that she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday May 13, 2021 at Lindside United Methodist Church with Pastor Becky VanStavern officiating. She will be laid to rest by her grandsons Larry Wickline, Joe Wickline, Mark Williams, Jon Williams, Nick Newberry and Ryan Wickline at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Lindside.
To provide for social distancing family will receive friends starting at 5PM on Wednesday May 12, 2021 at the Family Life Center at Lindside United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Lindside United Methodist Church at PO Box 151 Lindside, WV 24951. During the visitation and funeral all COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
