WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Although we are still in July currently, schools across the state are gearing up for the start of the 2022-2023 school year next month.
Wyoming County Schools is been among the entities making preparations for the coming educational year, and an opening schedule was announced on Tuesday.
Institutions throughout the Wyoming County area have implemented a staggering start-date system for the past few years, with the “first day” of school falling on different dates according to grade level.
For the 2022-2023 school year, there will be three distinct “first days,” beginning with Friday, August 26, 2022, at which time First, Third, Sixth, and Tenth grade students will report to school.
Monday, August 29, 2022 will see Second, Seventh, Eight, Eleventh, and Twelfth graders begin the semester, while Fourth, Fifth, and Ninth grade students will start on August 30, 2022.

Thursday, August 25, 2022 – Professional Learning Day for teachers, Pre-K Open House, K-12 Students do not report.
Friday, August 26, 2022 – First (1), Third (3), Sixth (6), and Tenth (10) grade students will be the only ones to report.
Monday, August 29, 2022 – Kindergarten Open House – Second (2), Seventh (7), Eighth (8), Eleventh (11), and Twelfth (12) grade students will be the only ones to report.
Tuesday, August 30, 2022 – Fourth (4), Fifth (5), and Ninth (9) grade students will be the only ones to report.
Wednesday, August 31, 2022 – All students grades K-12 will attend school for the full day.
Tuesday, September 6, 2022 – First full day for Pre-K students.
Parents will be notified by schools for times and procedures for Pre-K and Kindergarten Open House.
High schools will notify 9th grade parents about times for parent orientation at the freshmen academy. 9th grade students will attend all day on this day.
