RONCEVERTE, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – This Saturday, August 7, Shade Tree Car Club, in partnership with Greenbrier County Adopt A Cop, will support Greenbrier law enforcement through a car show. The event will be held at the Ronceverte Island Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Brittany Ennis, who co-founded Adopt A Cop with her sister, Jamie Baker, in 2020, is excited to see this weekend’s event support the county’s officers.
Last year, Ennis and Baker set up an adoption fee that allowed individuals- not just those in Greenbrier County- to adopt a cop.
“We wanted to show the officers that they are supported throughout the community and that they are respected and loved because they do so much for us,” Ennis said. “It was time for us to give back.”
Ennis said every single officer and K9 in the county was adopted within three days. The adoption fees were collected and used to purchase $50 gift cards for the officers. The community also donated snacks and drinks, and each officer received a personalized sign with the names of those who adopted them.
Ennis shared that she was ecstatic when Shade Tree reached out to do a fundraiser as she still wasn’t sure how to support the officers this year. Part of the car show’s proceeds will go to Adopt A Cop to purchase a large gift for the officers.
“I think it’s going to be great,” Ennis said. “I’m very excited about this weekend, and I am hoping that a lot of people will come out and support our law enforcement officers.”
The car show, which is free to the public, will be made complete with various food vendors, a 50/50 raffle and a dunk tank.
“There’s going to be all kinds of fun,” French stated. “Shade Tree is really honored to be a part of this. We hope we are able to spread what Adopt A Cop is doing into Raleigh County. We need to let our officers know how much we appreciate them.”
Cars, motorcycles and trucks alike are invited to participate in Saturday’s show. There is a $15 registration fee.
