WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Millions of children struggle each year, particularly during the holiday season. Operation Christmas Child provides a chance to contribute for those with the means and desire to do so.
Whether you’re part of a family, business, organization, or any other type of entity, Operation Christmas Child presents a unique opportunity not only to give back, but also to come together with those in your life to make a difference in the lives of children.
Learn more about how to get involved with Operation Christmas Child through the Samaritan’s Purse release, which can be found below,
“Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that brings joy and the hope of eternal life to children suffering from poverty, war, disease, natural disaster, and terrorism.
Millions of people who prepare shoebox gifts, pray, and serve with OCC are impacting children and their families worldwide. By packing shoebox gifts, you get to be a part of that!
Never before has the need been greater to reach the children of the world. Children are the most overlooked and oppressed segment of our global population, and are the largest unreached people group.
The 2022 goal is to collect enough shoebox gifts to reach 11 million children, with 17,000 of these boxes coming from Southeast West Virginia! This goal is a
20% increase over our local collection last year and we need your help to meet or exceed this.
How to pack a shoebox:
Determine the age and gender for your gift. (Male or Female, age 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14)
Find a standard size empty shoebox or purchase a plastic shoebox.
Fill your box with a variety of small gifts: toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and other items
that you know a child would appreciate (see brochure for ideas; no food or liquids please).
If you would like, include a note and a photo of yourself for the child who will receive your box.
A donation of $10 per box is critical to cover shipping and other project costs. For easiest processing, you can give online through our Label Options or Ways to Give pages, or by mailing a check in the postage-paid envelope available in our print brochure. If you use an online option on the Labels page, you can Follow Your Box and discover the destination of your gift.
National Collection Week begins November 14 and runs until November 21, 2022.
Shoeboxes should be delivered to the Beckley First Baptist Church located at 422 Neville Street Beckley, WV during those dates. Please call or go online to find out the hours of operation.
