BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Some Raleigh County motorists can anticipate minor delays Wednesday with the implementation of a single-lane traffic stop along S Fayette St.
Roadside work crew members are stationed on and across the street along the school zone area adjacent to Stratton Elementary School.
Workers on either end of the area are stationed with signs directing traffic through the singular open lane in alternating sequences of “STOP” and “SLOW.”
At the time of writing mid-morning on Tuesday the delays themselves are minimal, with motorists generally being halted for under a minute before regaining access to pass through the work area, which itself spans only a few car-lengths.
It is unclear how delay times will be affected when and if work continues through times of increased traffic flow, such as 12:00 noon through 1:00pm – the typical lunch hour for many employees throughout the area during which traffic congestion is noticeably increased.
Additionally, an estimated time for completion of what appears to be utility work is unclear at this time.
Within the work area itself, crew members are conducting procedures on a utility pole via a lift, and the presence of Frontier Communications utility trucks on-scene is likely indicative of the addressing of an internet issue, possibly with regard to the nearby elementary school.
