(LOOTPRESS) – A low pressure system will result in unsettled weather into the weekend.
Rounds of showers, along with gusty winds, arrives this morning, as the low tracks up the Ohio Valley.
The associated cold front crosses late this evening, followed by modestly cold air for Friday into the weekend. It will be cold enough for snow showers in the mountains by Friday morning, and across the lowlands by Friday evening, if not earlier. 2 to 6 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts on the higher windward slopes, are likely in the mountains Friday into Saturday morning, but snow showers can whiten the ground even out across the lowlands.
Temperatures will be very close to freezing across the lowlands Friday, so light accumulations are possible by dawn and during the day, but most likely late in the day and at night, as temperatures fall below freezing. It will also be brisk, especially in the mountains.
High pressure brings a dry finish to the weekend, but with a clear, calm and very cold Saturday night.
After the cold start, temperatures rebound to highs just above normal Sunday, and the warming trend continues, with next rain maker arriving during the early portion of the next work week.
