WESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beginning in January and running through March, Stonewall Resort will host a series of unique events featuring Appalachia’s most awarded and sought-after craft distillers and brewers. Known as the “Appalachian Dinner Series”, these intimate pairing dinners will showcase regional purveyors’ award-winning and harder-to-find products.
“West Virginia and the broader Appalachian region are home to heralded, artisanal producers of a variety of ale and spirits who are receiving acclaim for their products,” said Andre’ D’Amour, resort general manager. “The Appalachian Dinner Series provides guests the opportunity to sample these unique offerings in combination with a curated four-course dinner menu and the ability to engage with the producers.”
D’Amour said the first event, to take place in Lightburn’s Restaurant on Saturday, January 14, will feature West Virginia’s own Big Timber Brewing Company.
Fresh from becoming the first West Virginia brewery to win a medal at the prestigious Great American Beer Festival in the fall of 2022, Big Timber brewer Matt Kwasniewski will showcase a wide range of flavorful styles, each expertly paired with a delicious course, that helped them land a designation by state brewer blog Brilliant Stream as the Best Brewery in West Virginia.
The evening menu includes: Bacon Mushroom and Brie Strudel paired with Big Timber’s Logger Lager (5.2% abv. Pilsner); Walter Stew paired with Big Timber’s Alpenglow Cranberry Sour (5% abv. Gose); Cast Iron Chicken Saltimbocca paired with Big Timber’s Frost Notch Winter Ale (7.8% abv. Strong Ale); and, Cornmeal Apple Upside-Down Cake paired with Big Timber’s Cake Smash German Chocolate Cake Stout (13% abv. Imperial Pastry Stout).
On Saturday, January 28, the Appalachian Dinner Series will feature Bridgeport-based West Virginia Fruit & Berry’s recent line of whiskeys in tandem with an incredible four-course menu of authentic Appalachian fare.
Offering specialty cocktails made with their award-winning 304 Mountain Blackberry Bourbon and 304 Mountain Rye the evening menu includes: Field Green Salad with a Sweet Heat Dressing paired with a Stonewall Manhattan; Grilled Corn and Potato Chowder paired with choice of a Blackberry Sidecar or a Blackberry Lemonade; Fig Glazed Smoke Beef Brisket paired with a Sneaky Snowshoe; and, Grilled Peach Short Cake paired with a Blackberry Bourbon Cream.
West Virginia Fruit & Berry founders, Bob and Becky Titchenal, will be on site to guide guests through each pairing along with the resort’s award-winning culinary team.
Stonewall Resort’s Appalachian Dinner Series will continue in February and March and includes collaborations with Jackie O’s Brewery (Feb. 25) and Greenbrier Valley Brewing (Mar. 31).
