SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The suspect in a strangulation incident is being held without bond after violating conditions of his home confinement sentence Sunday to return to the residence of the victim in the incident.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office reports that, on October 30, 2022, an alert was received by Home Confinement Officer J. Lane that Gabriel Tackett had left his Huntington residence through the GPS monitoring which had been instituted as a condition of the latter’s home confinement.
Shortly after, Lane was received notice that Tackett had entered what is known as an “Exclusion Zone,” which entails a restricted area for subjects being monitored in home confinement.
In this instance, the residence of the victim in the strangulation incident comprised the “Exclusion Zone.”
The South Charleston Police Department were quickly notified and responded with haste to the address of the “Exclusion Zone.”
Deputy Lane, along with South Charleston Police officers were able to locate and apprehend Tackett at a Goshorn Street residence in South Charleston.
Tackett is now being held without bond at South Central Regional Jail pending a hearing for bond revocation violation and violating the terms and conditions of his home confinement sentence.
“The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office commends Deputy J. Lane for her diligent response along with South Charleston Police Department,” read a statement from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. “This situation demonstrates the benefit home confinement provides to crime victims and is a testament to the efficacy of the GPS monitoring equipment.”
