Tanner Joseph Huffman, 22, of Colonial Beach moved from this world and into our hearts on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Tanner was born in Panama City Beach, Florida on October 24, 2000. He attended Massaponax High School where he played baseball and was surrounded by many friends. Upon graduating in 2019, he went on to follow in his father’s footsteps and became a Sailor in the U.S. Navy. During his downtime, he frequently worked alongside his brothers and father in their family-owned curbing business.
To know Tanner was to love him and he brought joy to everyone who knew him. He was gentle, loving, and protective of everyone he cared about. Tanner was the life of the party and if you were his friend, to him you were his family. Tanner enjoyed evening bonfires, good music, and bad dancing. Tanner was a proud “momma’s boy” and never turned down a chance at spending time with her. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.
While stationed in Sasebo, Japan, Tanner met and married the love of his life, Heather. They are currently expecting a baby girl in October of this year. Tanner was so excited and proud to be a father and his legacy will live on within his little girl.
Tanner is survived by his soon-to-be-born daughter, Kamryn June Huffman; beautiful and strong wife, Heather Huffman; mother and stepfather Krissy and Chip Childress; Father Robert Huffman; sister Elliana “Ellie Belly” Huffman; brothers Travis Huffman (Tavia), Jacob Huffman (Kaitlin), and Hunter Childress (Laura); niece Harper; nephews Gus and Knox; as well as a large extended family in West Virginia and many great friends.
God welcomed Tanner with open arms; Heaven and Earth will never be the same. With his passing, we are left with a void in our lives, but the memories and love we have to hold onto are enough to last a lifetime.
A special thank you to Tanner’s friend and honorary brother, Luke Lauterbach, for everything he did, and continues to do for Tanner and his family.
Visitation for family and friends will be held 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Ansted. Burial will follow at 2:15 at the Family Farm on Fox Cemetery Road, Victor.
