DAILEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was arrested Friday in Dailey after a domestic dispute involving an attempted strangulation was reported.
Reports from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office indicate that, on September 2, 2022, Sr. Deputy A.B. Beverly responded to Back Rd. in Dailey regarding a reported domestic incident between a husband and wife which involved a strangulation attempt.
Upon the officer’s arrival on the scene, the reported suspect, identified to be Richard Gardner, was in a truck bed and was refusing multiple commands to exit and to stop reaching throughout the vehicle.
As the subject continued his verbal hostility and general non-compliance, pepper spray was eventually administered, at which point Gardner became physically combative.
When refusing to comply with instructions to place his hands behind his back, the subject was met with a drive stun and was placed in hand restraints.
Richard Gardner was arrested for Domestic Battery and Obstructing Arrest, and was transported by Randolph County EMS to Davis Medical Center, then to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
