BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A former counselor with Tazewell County Schools has been arrested and charged with sex crimes.
According to West Virginia State Police, a tip was received about sexual abuse with a minor. Troopers say that Dalasue “Dala” Phillips had sexual encounters with the minor fifteen times while he was a student at Tazewell Elementary and Phillips was his school counselor. The child allegedly spent nights with Phillips at her home in Mercer County.
Phillips allegedly would buy the child video games and bribe him with ice cream and pizza. His mother needed someone to watch the child when she had things to do, so he would stay with Phillips, who was also his babysitter. Phillips told the child not to say anything because he would get in trouble and not be able to play video games.
Phillips is charged with 16 counts of first-degree sexual assault. She is being held in Southern Regional Jail under a 50,000 dollar cash-only bond.
