Thelma Jean Hanshaw,90, of Delbarton WV passed away in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on August 8th, 2021 at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born September 5th, 1930 in Delbarton, WV, a daughter of the late Joe and Della (Adkins) Kirk.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Hanshaw; sisters Helen Dean and Betty McSweeney; brothers Chester, Donald, and Rudolph Kirk; and grandson Aaron Ferrell.
Jean, as her friends called her, was a devout Christian, being one of the earlier members of the W.A. Connolly Memorial Baptist Church in Delbarton, WV, where she faithfully served the Lord for many years. She was also a retired employee of the United States Postal Service, working the front window of the Delbarton post office until her retirement. During her retirement years, Jean loved to take care of her flowers and was an avid sports fan. On any day you could hear her cheering for her beloved Duke Blue Devils and Pittsburgh Steelers.
She is survived by daughters Deborah (Keith) Caudill of Troutman, NC; Evelyn (Sid) Ferrell of Delbarton, WV; a son David (Theresa) Hanshaw of Delbarton, WV; 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Fulfilling her last wishes, there will be no public services for Mrs. Hanshaw. Those wishing to remember her are asked to make a donation to the W.A. Connolly Memorial Baptist Church of Delbarton, WV.
