RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Two Montrose men are facing attempted murder charges after a Thursday night shooting left a victim seriously wounded, according to West Virginia State Police.
Trooper H.J. Bonetti and Senior Trooper A.P. Petrella responded around 9:16 p.m. on February 12 to a reported shooting on Mule Hollow Road in Montrose.
Investigators say Derek Arbogast, 37, allegedly shot his brother, Brett Arbogast, 31, of Elkins, multiple times with a .22 caliber revolver. Authorities further allege that after the initial gunfire, a second man — identified as Larry Talkington, 62, of Montrose — restrained the victim and dragged him back inside the residence to keep him from leaving.
Troopers say the victim was then shot again inside the home.
Emergency crews transported the victim from the scene, and he was later flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.
The West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Team responded to assist with processing evidence and documenting the scene.
Derek Arbogast and Larry Talkington have both been charged with attempted murder in the first degree and are being held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
