BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Tuesday hearing saw a Raleigh County man, along with his mother, sentenced for their roles in a case of Child Neglect Resulting in Serious Injury.
According to Raleigh County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Brian Parsons, Bobby Joe Richmond and Carol Richmond were issued sentences of one to five years in Tuesday’s Raleigh County Circuit Court hearing.
The sentencing stems from an abuse investigation pertaining to an 8 year old girl – the daughter of Bobby Richmond and granddaughter of Carol Richmond.
In February, authorities found the girl hungry, locked in a laundry room wearing only her underwear, and soaked in urine.
The girl’s mother, Rebecca Richmond, will see sentencing for similar charges, as the sentencing date was changed due to a scheduling conflict, according to Parsons.
Bobby Richmond was represented by Mike Froble, and will see 10 years supervision upon his release. Carol Richmond, represented by Chris Davis, was sentenced to 5 years supervised release.
It was also resolved that the two will be required to file under the state child abuse registry upon release.
Sentencing was carried out by Judge Andrew Dimlich.
