(LOOTPRESS) – Total U.S. shipments of thermal coal to domestic power plants increased from May by +6.4%. Sub-Bituminous and lignite deliveries increased by +6.5% month over month and bituminous coal shipments increased by 6.1% from May to June. Year to date, compared to the same time in 2020, total U.S. coal deliveries to power plants are up +4.7%. Sub bituminous and lignite coal shipments are up +2.3% and bituminous coal shipments are up +11%.
Total West Virginia shipments of domestic thermal coal increased from May to June by +1.2% Shipments from the CAPP region of the state decreased month over month by -10.9%, while state NAPP shipments increased by +3.3% from the previous month. Compared to same six months of 2020, total West Virginia domestic thermal coal shipments are up +34.3%. Shipments from the CAPP region of the state are off by -3.8% and NAPP shipments are up +48.8% compared to last year.
