BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – Beckley pickleball coach announces operation hours for New River Park courts.
According to coach Dave Barksdale, the New River Park pickleball courts will open this weekend from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The courts will be open from 5 p.m. to dark Monday through Friday.
The mixed doubled round-robin pickleball tournament slated for Saturday, May 22 will begin at 9 a.m. The courts will open at 8 a.m. to allow players to get in some practice time before their match. The tournament is part of the City of Beckley’s Rhododendron Festival.

BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – The New River pickleball courts are scheduled to open this weekend, despite the unseasonably cool weather.
Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis and tennis. It is played using a paddleball.
Pickleball coach Dave Barksdale said he currently doesn’t know a start time for the courts’ opening but stated that times will soon be announced on the Southern West Virginia Pickleball Facebook page.
Barksdale, who has been coaching for several years, expressed his excitement for the opening, as well as the upcoming mixed doubles round-robin pickleball tournament on Saturday, May 22. The tournament is part of the City of Beckley’s Rhododendron Festival.
