UPDATE: The Beckley Police Department is now prepared to release the identity of the victim of the shooting incident that was reported on January 15, 2021.
Thirty-one-year-old Jerel Saunders of Beckley, WV was discovered deceased at approximately 10:30 am on that date in the area of Smith and Miller Streets. It was discovered that Mr. Saunders had suffered multiple gunshot injuries, his death is now being investigated by the Beckley Police Department Detective Bureau as a homicide.

BECKLEY, W.V. (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley Police Department is investigating a murder after finding a man dead on Friday, Jan. 15.
The body was discovered by officers between Miller and Smith Streets in Beckley after responding to a call that occurred at 10:30 a.m.
According to Sgt. Bragg, the man, whose identity has not been released, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Police are working to notify the family.
