The world lost a beloved mother, sister, partner, and aunt Velma Sue Ward, on June 4th, 2021 at the age of 57. Sue battled lung cancer for many years, but she did not allow her cancer diagnosis to define her. She loved her son Evan Fallin with all of her heart, but she always let everyone in her world know just how much he loved her son’s dog Zip.
Sue was born May 11th, 1964, in Monroe County West Virginia. She lived the last few years of her life with her beloved partner Chris Moore along with his 3 dogs Bear, Coco, and Leila in Loxahatchee Florida. Sue worked for Stop In Stores all around Greenbrier County and made numerous friends throughout her career that loved Sue for her comforting and compassionate attitude.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Alfred Ward and Reva Mae Ward, her nephews Josh and Dakota, and her ex-husband Bruce Fallin. She is survived by her son Evan Fallin and his wife Rebekah of Lewisburg, WV, brothers James Ward, Donald “Don” Ward, Raymond Ward, Jerry Ward, Buster “Buck” Ward of Ashtabula, OH, Ben Ward, Larry Ward, Robert “Buddy” Ward, sisters Jackie Ward, Rebecca “Becky” Ward, and several adored nieces and nephews.
Sue absolutely adored her family and the dogs that she got the chance to care for. Sue loved to travel with her friends and companions when life allowed. Sue was well known for her work ethic and devotion to her career. She was an avid reader later in her life and most mornings she could be found sitting out in the warm, morning sun, sipping coffee and reading a good book while gently petting the dogs that surrounded her chair.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Freddie Bostic officiating.
