Local livestock markets continued to have solid runs during the last week as local producers’ transition into the cooler months. Cattlemen’s Livestock Exchange reported 400lb-500lb steers at $140.00-$175.00 with heifers of that weight $120.00-$130.00.
Cattlemen’s also held their monthly small animal sale heighted by 80lb choice/prime lambs coming in at $275.00 and wether goats averaging $212.00. Staunton Union Livestock reported 400-600lb steers $160.00-$173.00 with heifers of same weight $125.00-144.50.
Finally Narrows Livestock Auction reported 400-600lb steers averaged $154.00 with heifers$118.00 (Detailed Market Reports can be found at ams.usda.gov).
