WELCH, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Next weekend will be full of BBQ and ATV riding in the historic coal town of Welch as the 2023 WV KCBS State BBQ Championship and ATV festival kick off on June 9.
The 3rd annual WV Coalfields Cookoff – the West Virginia State BBQ & ATV Festival, this KCBS State Championship Cookoff, hosted by the City of Welch, promises great food, bands, a beer garden, ATV activities and vendors.
BBQ Cook Teams will compete for almost $13,000 in prize money and the WV State BBQ Championship title thanks to a generous grant from Smithfield Foods.
Event organizers say attendees can sink their teeth into some of the best BBQ from vendors throughout the region or participate in some taste testing from competitors. For grownups, the Beer Garden will be the perfect pairing to a juicy bite of brisket.
Bring your ATV and enjoy the Hatfield-McCoy Trail or sit back in your favorite lawn chair and enjoy the mountain air, laced with the delicious smell of a hot smoker and the music of Appalachia’s favorite musicians.
The WV Coalfields Cookoff offers more than just great food and good music. Regional artisans will also sell handmade crafts and local businesses will sell ATV accessories.
The festival will begin on Friday, June 9, and last until Saturday, June 10.
