CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Today, the West Virginia Legislature convened for day one of the 60-day legislative session, and one senator had a special announcement to share with his colleagues.
During the announcements portion of today’s Senate floor session, Senator Ben Queen (R-Harrison) broke the news that he and his wife are expecting their first child.
“It’s very unique to be the youngest member of this body, I get a lot of advice, I get a lot of mentorship, I get a lot of unsolicited encouragement,” Queen said. “We’ve been trying to keep this a secret but I know that we’re live streaming, and it won’t be a secret for much longer.”
“I think it’s pretty important that we here practice what we preach, and as we try to make West Virginia the best place to raise a family, I’m pretty proud that in just a few short months, the Queen family will be adding to the population here.”
Queen’s announcement was followed by cheers and applause from his colleagues.
Senate President Craig Blair (R-Berkeley) was excited to hear the news himself stating, “That makes this president very happy.”
Queen currently represents the 12th Senatorial District.
