CLEAR FORK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Another school has been targeted Tuesday afternoon in an ongoing series of phone calls warning of potential school threats.
A Tuesday evening announcement from the Wyoming County Board of Education indicates that, on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Westside High School was the recipient of a phone call warning of a possible school threat.
The announcement emphasizes that no time was wasted in facilitating the involvement of law enforcement to determine the validity of the apparent threat.
“This afternoon, Westside High School received a phone call regarding a possible threat,” reads the statement. “School administrators immediately began working with law enforcement.”
It has also been indicated that, per law enforcement, the situation is no longer of concern.
No students are suspected to have been responsible for the threat or call.
“According to law enforcement, the situation has been resolved. At this time, no Westside students are suspected of involvement,” the statement continues.
Those with questions are encouraged to contact the school itself or the Central Office.
“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” concludes the statement.
The incident comes in the wake of a trending pattern of fraudulent phone calls warning of threats made to schools throughout West Virginia beginning last Wednesday. Authorities are currently working in conjunction with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security to determine the source of the fraudulent calls.
