WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A South Carolina man wanted for murder was apprehended by Wheeling PD on Tuesday.
According to reports from the Wheeling Police Department, a tip was received on Tuesday, August 9, which led to the location of a subject wanted for murder in Cherokee County, South Carolina.
Wheeling authorities received a call from a South Carolina detective at around 4:00pm which provided information indicating the possibility of a murder suspect in the East Wheeling area.
The detective provided the alias of a known associate of the subject, an alias which was recognized by WPD as that of an individual known to frequent homeless encampments in the 18th Street area.
Upon conducting a search for the subject, he was located near the 18th Street and Eoff Street areas where he was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.
Leanard Herbert Finch, 31 of Gaffney, South Carolina, was charged with being a Fugitive from Justice. He was processed and transported to Northern Regional Jail where he will await extradition proceedings.
