William “Bill” Hornsby, age 79, went to be with the Lord October 29, 2022, following a long illness. He resided in Ghent, WV with his wife Bonnie.
Bill was born August 11, 1943, to the late Lunda Shrewsbury and Ruth Perdue Hornsby.
He was preceded in death by his sister Delean Bolen, brother Edward Hornsby, and stepson-in-law Ivan Cox.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two stepchildren, Rodney Adkins (wife Suzanne) and Brenda Cox. He also had four grandchildren: Amanda Lancaster (husband Ryan), Andrew Adkins (wife Cheyenne), Dylan Cox (wife Tapanga); and Ethan Cox. Bill is also survived by his great grandson and namesake Luke William Lancaster and great granddaughter Sophia Adkins. Additional survivors include his sisters Mary Jane Shrewsbury and Betty Melton, brothers Larry Shrewsbury (wife Rose), Tracy Shrewsbury, Paul Shrewsbury (wife Margaret), nieces Kathy Shrewsbury (husband Gene), Barbara Vaught (husband James), Jennifer Tilley (husband Michael), Bessie Shrewsbury, Crystal Edwards (husband Todd), and Scyanna Brooks. Bill also had several great nieces and nephews.
Bill was an employee of the Susman family of Beckley. He loved his job and watching over the animals under his care. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and sitting on his porch. Bill also loved socializing with people and warmly greeted anyone he encountered. He was a kindhearted man who ensured his home was full of love, happiness, and laughter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 2 PM at the Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with burial to follow at Tom Lilly Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 6 PM until 9 PM at the funeral home.
