CRAB ORCHARD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A tree reportedly taken down by high power winds which have persisted throughout the day has reportedly caused a fire in the Crab Orchard area.
Local businesses owners and residents have circulated accounts of a Saturday evening fire along Robert C. Byrd Drive. Images and videos and images show an ongoing hillside fire near Stovers Fork Road.
Crews could be seen responding the event which resulted in heavy smoke throughout the area.
No official reports have been given regarding the origin of the blaze, though it has been stated that a fallen tree struck a transformer, purportedly affecting electrical utility service of residents throughout the area.
Though flames can still be observed at the scene in a marginal capacity, emergency crews appear to have cleared the site of the event at the time of writing, perhaps indicating that the blaze is now under control.
