OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The town of Oceana has wholeheartedly embraced the spirit of Christmas this holiday season. The tight-knit community has come together to bring a number of holiday-themed events to the town, including the storefront decorating competition for which the winners were announced over the weekend.
Taking home the first place prize of $75 was the town’s AT&T location, followed by Cook’s Licensing and Shelly’s Hair Salon, who claimed the $50 and $25 awards, respectively. A group of pastors from local searches served as the voting committee for the competition.
The storefront decorating contest is just one of many town events which have taken place this month. Among these are the town Christmas parade, tree lighting ceremony, and visits from Santa Claus, who put his North Pole activities on hold to join residents for meals at local dining establishments.
The Oceana Chamber of Commerce has received overwhelming support from Mayor Tom Evans, local businesses and law enforcement, as well as the town residents in the revitalization of its community social scene.
