WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – The National Mascot Hall of Fame recently held its inaugural voting for the 2022 HOF class and one West Virginia college mascot has received a major title.
The Mascot Hall of Fame located in Whiting, Indiana nominated what they thought were the best mascots for a variety of different categories and allowed the public to have a part in the selection process by voting for the mascots. Once nominated by the Mascot Hall of Fame Executive Committee, the public was able to vote as voting ran from October 19-November 12.
This is the first time the Mascot Hall of Fame has hosted these awards. Major league, minor league, collegiate, high school, corporate and independent mascots were all allowed to compete.
The WVU Mountaineer was nominated for the titles of “College Mascot Greatest Community Impact” and “Best College Live Human Program.”
The results were announced on Saturday, November 19th in Indiana, and the West Virginia University Mountaineer was named the Best Live Human Mascot.
Mountaineer Mascot Mary Roush will be presented with a “Golden Reggy” trophy, the Mascot Hall of Fame’s official mascot.
