WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Each year, some of the sharpest historical young minds throughout West Virginia are honored as knights of the Golden Horseshoe.
The distinction acts as acknowledgement of a student’s having demonstrated exception knowledge of West Virginia history on an exam administered by the state itself. This year, 226 students have demonstrated such a capacity, proving themselves worthy of joining the distinguished ranks of other Mountain State citizens who have been honored with the prestigious award over the years.
Of the 226 students who will join these ranks, four will do so in representation of Wyoming County, with two hailing from Road Branch Elementary & Middle School.
The four 2023 Golden Horseshoe winners out of Wyoming County as announced by the West Virginia Department of Education are as follows:23
Paisley Shannon, Huff Cons Elementary & Middle School
Gabriel Cook, Pineville Middle School
Calista Bachert, Road Branch Elementary & Middle School
Isaiah Paynter, Road Branch Elementary & Middle School
These four academic achievers will join 223 of their peers on June 13, 2023, at the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston, WV to be officially honored as Knights of the Golden Horseshoe.
