YADKIN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – During its December 5, 2022 board meeting, the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners honored one of their own, departing board member Gilbert Hemric. Hemric took his first oath of office as a County Commissioner on December 6th, 2010.
During his tenure as a county commissioner he served on the Economic Development Partnership Board, Economic Development Council and the Cooperative Extension Advisory Council. Hemric was presented with a proclamation by County Manager Lisa Hughes and Chairman Kevin Austin that detailed his dedication to the citizens of Yadkin County and appreciation for twelve years of service. The meeting took an emotional turn as Board members individually commented on Hemric’s legacy as a trusted public servant, friend, and champion for the agricultural community.
The board went on to welcome Commissioner Cliff Collins, who will be taking over Hemric’s seat, with a swearing in ceremony for Collins and returning board members Kevin Austin and Frank Zachary.
The meeting concluded with the election of Chair and Vice Chair for the upcoming year. Kevin Austin was elected to serve as Chairman and David Moxley will serve as Vice Chairman.
