ST. ALBANS, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The West Virginia Air National Guard is mourning the loss of Airman 1st Class Jacob Casebolt, 20, who died on Aug. 5 following an off-duty swimming incident.
Casebolt, a member of the 130th Communication Squadron, served as a Network Operations Journeyman and was recognized during his time with the unit as CS Airman of the Year.
“The 130th Airlift Wing mourns the devastating loss of Jacob, who committed himself to serving our great state and nation,” said Col. Bryan W. Preece, commander of the 130th Airlift Wing. “We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and all who knew him as they mourn the tragic loss of a young life taken so unexpectedly.”
Grief counseling and support services are being offered to all members of the 130th Airlift Wing through the Wing’s Director of Psychological Health and Chaplain Corps.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 10, at 5 p.m. at Maranatha Fellowship Church in St. Albans. Interment with full military honors will follow on Monday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
