KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 15-year-old juvenile has been charged following a 100+ MPH pursuit that spanned two West Virginia counties.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), Deputies were led on a high-speed pursuit early Sunday morning that spanned into Clay County.
Just before 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 26th, 2023, a Kanawha County Deputy Sheriff was passed on Elk River Road by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and illegally passing other motorists.
A deputy attempted to stop the car, but the driver refused to stop and continued to flee in the vehicle.
The fleeing driver reached speeds over 100 mph, struck the guardrail several times, and led deputies into Clay County where the driver eventually crashed over an embankment and into a tree.
Deputies discovered the vehicle was occupied by two juvenile males, and they were trapped inside the wrecked car but uninjured.
The juveniles inside the vehicle were teenagers and the driver, only 15 years old, told deputies he fled because he became scared after seeing the deputies turning around.
Both juveniles were transported back to their guardians and the 15-year-old driver now faces fleeing charges.
The juvenile is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a juvenile court of law.
