WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 16-year-old has been arrested for making a threat against a West Virginia high school.
On Thursday, September 12, 2024, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a potential threat against Parkersburg South High School, which had been circulating on social media.
School officials became aware of the posts and promptly informed the Parkersburg Police Department.
While the student responsible for the post was not present at the school, police followed protocol and contacted the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, as the student resides outside the city limits.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office apprehended a 16-year-old male student of Parkersburg South High School, who is now being held pending charges from the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities stated there was no immediate physical danger to students or staff.
Throughout the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office worked in collaboration with Parkersburg Police, the Wood County School Administration, and the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office.
