BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The 20th Annual Friends of Charity Auto Fair, originally scheduled for this year, has been canceled due to unforeseen changes in insurance requirements.
The event, known as the largest annual fundraiser for Hospice of Southern West Virginia and Brian’s Safehouse, has been a long-standing tradition in the community.
Organizers say the decision to cancel was difficult but necessary.
“We are heartbroken to share this news,” event organizers stated in a Facebook post. “Although we are unable to gather this year, we hope you will continue to support these two vital nonprofit organizations.”
Hospice of Southern West Virginia provides compassionate end-of-life care, while Brian’s Safehouse offers recovery support for individuals battling addiction.
Community members are encouraged to donate directly to these organizations through their websites:
- Hospice of Southern West Virginia: hospiceofsouthernwv.org/donate
- Brian’s Safehouse: brianssafehouse.org/donate%2Fvolunteer
Those who had already registered, sponsored, or signed up as vendors for the event will receive refunds within the next 14 business days.
Organizers expressed their appreciation for the community’s support and remain optimistic about the future of the event.
The auto fair is expected to return in 2026 at a new location.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and truly appreciate your understanding,” the post read. “We remain hopeful and excited to return in 2026 at a new location.”
