MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On July 23, 2025, at approximately 6:22 PM, Mercer County Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of US Route 52 and Labrador Drive.
During the investigation, Deputies determined that a motorcycle, operated by Joseph Scott, a 21-year-old male of Bluefield, was southbound on US Route 52 as a GMC pickup truck was entering northbound US 52 from the Labrador Drive intersection. The motorcycle and GMC collided in the northbound lane of US Route 52.
Mr. Scott sustained critical injuries and was transported to Bluefield Regional Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the GMC remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. The driver of the GMC was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Crash Reconstruction Unit.
