CHESAPEAKE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 25-year-old Ohio woman lost her life in a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 near mile marker 87 in West Virginia on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Alexis Vega, of Cleveland, Ohio, was driving southbound on I-77 when she lost control of her vehicle, striking the concrete median barrier.
Her vehicle came to rest sideways, blocking both southbound lanes of traffic.
Vega exited her vehicle and was walking in the roadway when another driver stopped to assist her.
As the good samaritan attempted to help Vega off the road, a tractor-trailer traveling southbound struck both the assisting vehicle and Vega.
Vega was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from her injuries. Her next of kin has been notified.
The crash remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Police.
