33rd annual Mount Hope Jubilee about to get underway

MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The 33rd Annual Mount Hope Jubilee is set to take place over two days, with a schedule packed full of music, food, and fun for all ages.

The festivities kick off on Friday, September 20, 2024, with an alumni gathering beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the old YMCA building, now the Mount Hope Community Building.

This gathering is sponsored by the Mount Hope Alumni Association and the Mount Hope Jubilee Committee.

Musical performances begin at 6:00 p.m. with gospel music by Karen James Buckland, followed by a set by Bob Dorado from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The night will end with a fireworks display at 9:00 p.m., provided by the Mount Hope Fire Department. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the fireworks from the school lawn across from the Methodist Church.

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the jubilee resumes at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m., featuring live music, food, and craft vendors.

The parade begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by a car show from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., where over 40 trophies, including four specialty trophies, will be awarded.

Other entertainment includes live music from Jim Pino with Piney Creek Band from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

For those looking for interactive fun, there will be a hula hoop contest at Kilsyth Freewill Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. and a youth scavenger hunt at 1:30 p.m.

The Southern Draw Band will perform from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., and the festivities will conclude with a rubber duck race at 2:00 p.m. near Kilsyth Freewill Baptist Church.
