JACKSON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 7-year-old juvenile is in police custody Wednesday after setting fire to a family home with their sleeping parents still inside.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office indicates that on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, a minor child faces first degree arson charges following an intentional fire which overtook a family residence.
Reports confirm that, despite two individuals having suffered minor burn-related injuries, no one was fatally impacted as a result of the blaze.
The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office multiple unnamed volunteer fire departments were thanked for their efforts in responding the incident, which appears to have left the residence itself in ruin.
Given the sensitive nature of the incident as well as the involvement of a juvenile, authorities have made clear that no further information regarding the situation shall be released at the time of writing.
