FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — What started as a silent 911 call turned into a dramatic and dangerous confrontation after deputies responded to a residence in Fayette County and discovered a woman wielding a knife in the driveway.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. on April 13, Fayette County Communications received multiple open 911 calls with no one speaking on the line. Concerned, Deputy First Class C.D. Cogar and DFC T. Farley with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered Tiffany Angel, who was visibly agitated and holding a knife. As officers ordered her to stop, she bolted inside the home. Moments later, she reemerged unarmed, having reportedly tossed the knife onto the couch.
According to Mark Skaggs, who identified himself as being in a relationship with Angel, the situation escalated when Angel became irate for unknown reasons. Skaggs stated she threatened to stab him and “gut” herself, and also claimed she had struck him in the hand and face. Although no visible injuries were observed, Skaggs said he and others locked Angel out of the home after she exited.
When Angel attempted to walk away from the scene despite being ordered to stay on the porch, deputies placed her under arrest. According to DFC Cogar, Angel became belligerent, screaming obscenities and thrashing in the back seat of the patrol vehicle.
The situation escalated further during transport when Angel began banging her head against the vehicle door, appearing to try to injure herself. Deputies were forced to stop the car and place her in leg shackles, securing her on her stomach in the back seat to prevent self-harm and damage to the vehicle.
Angel was transported to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department for booking and now faces several charges, including:
-
Domestic Battery (WV State Code §61-2-28(a))
-
Obstruction (WV State Code §61-5-17(c))
-
Brandishing a Deadly Weapon (WV State Code §61-7-11)
No injuries were reported from deputies, and the incident remains under investigation.
