BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Academy Sports will soon call the former Kmart building in Beckley home.
Academy Sports is a sporting goods store that offers a variety of apparel, footwear, and equipment for various sports and outdoor activities.
The new location will be located at the Beckley Plaza. Doyle Construction is handling the project, they are currently doing renovations to the building.
Academy Sports opened 14 new stores in fiscal 2023 and plans to continue its expansion efforts goal of opening a total of 120 to 140 new stores by the end of 2027.
Academy Sports identifies itself as a place where families can find apparel, footwear, sports, camping equipment, hunting and fishing gear, and more from top national brands.
They also offer free services such as grill and bike assembly, scope mounting, bore sighting, and propane exchange. Hunting and fishing licenses are also available for purchase in Academy Sports stores.
They are currently hiring a store operations manager, store sales manager, and store logistics manager.
An official opening date has not yet been released.
The address for the future Beckley location is 301 Beckley Plaza, Beckley, WV 25801.
