HARRISON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Three people, including an infant, were rescued from a house fire on Shinnston Pike on Thursday afternoon, according to the Spelter Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 2:37 p.m. in the 4000 block of Shinnston Pike, prompting a multi-department response.

Spelter FD was joined by engines from Shinnston, Lumberport, Nutter Fort, and Reynoldsville fire departments, as well as Harrison County EMS.
When firefighters arrived, flames and smoke were pouring from the two-story brick home, trapping two adults and an infant on the second floor.
Spelter Assistant Chief C. Shingleton, who passed the scene en route to the station, confirmed the working fire and called for additional resources, including Shinnston’s ladder truck.
Firefighters from Spelter made an initial attempt to search the home but were forced back by intense heat.
Harrison County EMS personnel and firefighters placed a ladder against the front of the house and successfully rescued the trapped residents through a second-story window.
All three were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Spelter Engine 111 was the first to arrive and secured a nearby hydrant, laying 600 feet of supply line.
Crews deployed two handlines to attack the fire while additional units from Bridgeport and Anmoore were called for support.
The fire was brought under control under the command of Spelter Chief B. Dunn.
