RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — You’ve heard of cutting class—but cutting off a GPS monitor? A Beckley woman is facing an escape charge after allegedly walking away from a court-ordered rehab program and removing her GPS monitor.
According to law enforcement, Elizabeth Elmore was under court supervision following a December 2024 burglary charge. As part of her plea agreement, she was required to complete a rehabilitation program and wear a GPS ankle monitor.
Reports show that on March 20, while attending her Intensive Outpatient Program in Parkersburg, she “knocked the bracelet off.” Before it could be reattached, she was discharged from the program on April 3 after testing positive for drugs at her sober living home.
Authorities say Elmore returned briefly to collect her belongings, then caught a ride back to the Beckley area on April 9, leaving the GPS monitor behind in Parkersburg.
A discharge report from the Raleigh County Day Report Center confirmed she had violated the terms of her release. She is now facing an additional charge of escape.
