SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was rescued and airlifted to a hospital Tuesday night after suffering a medical emergency in a remote area of Summers County, according to the Summers County Volunteer Fire Department.
Members of the Summers County Special Operations Team responded to the call, which officials said was particularly complex due to difficult terrain and multiple obstacles.

The response required rope rescue, search and rescue operations, and on-site medical care before the patient could be transported.
The man was ultimately carried out of the area and flown to receive higher-level medical treatment.
The department credited the successful outcome to the teamwork of numerous agencies from both Summers and Monroe counties, as well as the volunteers who responded.
