LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Lewisburg woman is facing charges after police say she left her 14-year-old daughter at Walmart and was later found with items linked to drug distribution.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Greenbrier County, officers were called around 2 a.m. on Sept. 26 after a report that a juvenile had been left alone at Walmart.

The child told authorities her mother, identified as 38-year-old Lola May Curfman, had left her there for an extended period of time.
When officers located Curfman at the Relax Inn, she was in a vehicle with a man later identified as Dustin Shorter. Police say Shorter fled on foot when officers arrived.
Deputies and a K9 attempted to track him but were unable to locate him.
Curfman reportedly told officers she had allowed her daughter to enter Walmart alone and that a friend was supposed to bring her home.
The girl was later found by deputies at a residence in Fairlea. Child Protective Services was contacted and took custody of the juvenile.
A search of Curfman’s vehicle turned up a backpack containing items consistent with drug distribution, including drug paraphernalia, numerous small baggies, two digital scales, two cell phones, and hypodermic needles, according to the complaint.
Curfman was arrested and charged with child neglect resulting in injury. She was transported to the Southern Regional Jail. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
She is currently out on bond.
Deputies later obtained warrants for Shorter in connection with the incident.
